Application Specialist

Role Description

Application Specialists work closely with customers on training, application and trouble-shooting issues. You will focus on providing technical and customer support services for applications and making the interface between instrumentation and reagents work smoothly.

Territories are large and can even cover the entire UK. The ability to interact well with customers and colleagues is essential and is an aspect, which will feature highly in all interviews. Qualifications required are a degree or equivalent in areas such as molecular biology, immunology or medical laboratory science plus at least one years’ experience in a relevant laboratory.

590, Flow Cytometry Specialist, UK-Wide

An exciting opportunity with a world leader in Cell and Biomolecule Separation Technology, with a strong presence in the fields of cell biology, immunology, regenerative medicine and molecular biology. For this role they are looking for a field-based flow cytometry specialist, covering the whole of the UK. You should be qualified to PhD level with a 1st degree in a biomedical/immunology subject or be able to prove exceptional equivalent experience in flow cytometry. Extensive practical experience of multi parameter flow cytomery is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and carry out demonstrations of the flow cytometry instrumentation at customer sites, as well as relevant conferences and trade shows.
  • Liaise with customers as per protocols already established to ensure that correct materials are present for demo
  • Liaise with instrumentation specialist on installation and transport of demo units
  • Provide high-level technical support for flow cytometry, including troubleshooting both mechanical and protocol development issues with customers
  • Repeat visits to customers to provide ongoing training
  • Provide support to senior management for any negotiations involving the sale and support of flow cytometry instrumentation / consumables / antibodies
  • Carry out customer visits with sales team members as required to solve complex customer flow cytometry issues
  • Research and regularly update competitor information in collaboration with marketing dept

584, Application Specialist - ELISA validation & Technical Support - Cambridgeshire

An excellent Application Specialist / Technical Support opportunity for an experienced scientist in the Diagnostic / Life Science sector. Our clients are an established, successful and respected manufacturer of scientific instrumentation for use in laboratory analysis and lab automation; both within the Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science industries.

This role focuses on two key responsibilities:

  • Validation of testing kits on the company's Microplate Readers
  • Technical support for end-users & distributors; mainly by telephone/email, but with some international travel to train distributors.

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Degree (or higher) in a Life Science discipline
  • Laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience of areas such as microtitre plates, luminescence, 'time-resolve' fluorescence, absorption, running assay kits and developing ELISA.

553, Biomedical Laboratory Automation & IT Specialist - Birmingham

An excellent opportunity in technical and sales support for Instrumentation, Data Management and IT, suited to an experienced BioMedical Scientist, or similar. Whilst strong IT skills are required for the role, it is this Life Science background that is essential. The position is mainly office-based, in Birmingham, but with approximately 15% travel (both UK and international).

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with customers to get the most out of the company’s products and resolving any applications issues that may arise.
  • Telephone, e-mail and on-site technical support to customers & distributors.
  • Demonstrating and presenting instrumentation platforms both to customers and colleagues.
  • Planning and delivering training necessary to support the company’s instrumentation, data management and IT products.
  • Understanding customer workflow, data management & IT needs, and providing technical advice / support on the installation & use of the company’s instrumentation data management systems and networks, both before and after the sale.
  • Evaluation and validation of kits, instrumentation and software.
  • Keeping up to date with both company and competitor Instrumentation and IT advances.

Suitable candidates will have:

  • BSc (or higher) in a life science discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems and laboratory data management and workflow.
  • Knowledge of Hospital LIS/LIMS systems and data management systems relating to diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong and businesslike presentation skills.
  • The ability to work on their own initiative, but also be able to get on with others and be a team-player.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Sales / training / project management experience, or a foreign language would all be useful attributes, but are not essential.

547, Radiography Applications Specialist, UK-Wide

The purpose of this exciting position is to provide support in the implementation, development and delivery of the applications service to existing and new digital radiography and PACS customers.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • To provide a high standard of applications support and customer training for new digital radiography and PACS installations
  • To provide follow-up technical updates to existing installations
  • Provide technical support at sales presentations
  • Give formal technical presentations to prospective customers
  • Keep updated on developments by the company and the industry as a whole
  • Provide administrative support as required to tender documents and editorial material for trade journals
  • To establish and maintain a good working relationship with other members of staff and departments

Suitable candidates will be:

  • Qualified to degree level in Radiography (or equivalent), with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of technical and organisational skills
  • Good communication & presentation skills
  • PC literate
  • Full UK Driving Licence
